The Sweet Signs of Summer
The ice cream truck made its first visit to the neighborhood today. The kids all lined up, fists full of cash, anxious to make their first selection of the season. All was sweet and magical until Isaac's cotton candy ice cream bar froze to his tongue. At first I thought he was being a typical silly 8-year-old boy, pretending his ice cream was stuck. Then as tears began to stream down his face I realized the bar really was stuck and he was in serious pain. We tried pouring regular water on it to no avail. Two cups of warm water later his tongue was finally free. Ouch! Thanks to my friend, Jenny, who in the moment of crisis noticed my camera dangling around my neck and urged me to snap a quick picture. Priceless.

Deep Thoughts
Two funny conversations from last week. They aren't as funny on paper, but they made me giggle enough to stop and write them down.
This one came out of no where as we were driving down the road:
E: Womens they like have really long hair. They should get it cut like every day. Rockstars, they like theirs growing down.
This conversation ensued as Ethan was trying to negotiate a brownie appetizer to lunch:
E: Mom, we should eat sweets first.
Me: Really, why's that?
E: Because if you eat healthy stuff first and sweets last then it won't be healthy for your teeth.
He was making the argument that leaving sweets to sit on your teeth was bad. So, if you ate your veggies last they'd wash away the sweets leaving a healthy veggie residue behind virtually eliminating the effects of the sweets eaten first. Nice try buddy. Nevertheless, he had to eat lunch before the brownie (no fun, I know!).

The Gift of a Perfectly Ordinary Day
This video clip was forwarded by a friend. I almost didn't click through, but I'm glad I did. Make sure you have Kleenex handy if you watch it. It's a very sweet reminder that someday life will be much more calm and quiet and we'll all look back and really miss the chaos of a household full of kids.

We'll Be In Trouble if He Ever Discovers QVC & HSN
The other day Ethan started calling to me excitedly, "Mom, mom, come quick, you've got to see this!" I ran to the family room where he had paused the "Smooth Away" infomercial for me. He was insistent, "Mom, you've gotta buy that, you don't need a shaver."
This week I heard it again, "Mom, mom, you've gotta see this!" This time it was the amazing color changing foaming cleaner, Kaboom Foam Tastic.
Thankfully he has not yet learned to change the channel. We might be in trouble when he eventually stumbles upon QVC and the Home Shopping Network.

Isaac's Movie
Okay Adair Family, since I got you to all log-on and look at Morgan's meet video, it's only fair I share some of Isaac's highlights for the year too. This was the movie I made for his baptism last month. Merry Christmas to all of you. Wish we were hanging at the Shaeffer's tonight too! Don't have too much fun without us.
